Are you interested in the history of your land? Finding out what lies beneath our feet can tell us more about the rich tapestry of it's past and in turn will add to the heritage of the area. My name is Shaun Cooke. I live in the Flintshire area, and am interested in the history of our region and look for coins/objects and artifacts using a state of the art metal detector, so I am writing to ask for access to your land for myself and partner for this purpose.
I have been Metal Detecting for almost 1 year, and I am Insured with NCMD and follow stringently the code of conduct as laid down by the National Council of Metal Detecting in pursuit of my hobby.
You can rest assured that I will always repect your property and leave it in the same condition as it was found. I know how busy you must be so rather than knock on your door unannounced I prefer to make this first contact with you by letter.
I will be grateful if you will grant permission and would appreciate the opportunity of a meeting or a telephone conversation during which I can answer any questions you may have.
You may also be interested to learn that I offer a FREE RECOVERY SERVICE to local farmers or anyone who has maybe lost a ring or indeed any metallic object, like a tractor part. I would be quite happy to assist in recovery whether you grant me access to your land for detecting or not.
If you were interested, I would be more than happy for you to accompany me on my first outing on your land. I could lend you one of my spare machines for the day and give you an insight into what makes Our hobby so fascinating and rewarding
