I am carefully considering a competent, experienced rider to spend for my big lad 2/3 days a week.
B was a rehabilitation project after being retired at 7 from harness racing in overseas before travelling to me. He's a French Trotter, racing mostly in harness.
B can be a a quirky boy on the ground due to past handling experiences. After 2 years of working with him, the quirks are workable but lack of time can mean that he goes backwards with basic groundwork. He improves with regular training and with time but this is not being managed as well as it has been in the past.
He is 16.3, but has undergone bilateral stifle surgery so ideally needs a rider less than 12.5st.
He has undergone ridden rehab, but is green. He was ridden bitless during some of this and has also been ridden weekly up until March in a comfy barrel.
He was hacking once a week and ideally looking for someone to continue this, and some light schooling. He lacks confidence whilst hacking and although I was accompanying his rider on foot, I would love for him to build his confidence and gain consistency in the school too. Unfortunately I'm unable to guarantee I can be here to walk out with him whilst hacking, and lack of consistency also means his progress has been hindered.
B is VERY clever and forward thinking. He has potential for liberty and has done well in the past with this.
No jumping. He is still building strength and fitness post rehab so this is something I must insist is avoided. Poles are fine however and I am happy to consider the odd small jump when he is stronger and more consistent.
Days can be chosen to suit - happy to accommodate as I am not riding and with 2 young children my availability is limited.
