When all the municipally owned bus fleets in what is now unpopularly referred to as “Greater Manchester”, as well as Lancashire United and parts of the North Western fleet in 1969, vehicles were transferred from area to area before orange and white was created as a standard livery for the South East Lancashire and North East Cheshire Transport Executive (SELNEC).
This resulted in, for example, Bury Corporation, Manchester Corporation, Oldham Corporation and Lancashire United vehicles being allocated to towns other than their own, still in their original liveries. Destination and number displays were often too small or too large for their apertures: much to the consternation of passengers.
The vehicle shown formerly belonged to Manchester Corporation and is in the SELNEC standard livery and was allocated to Stockport Depot to be used on Route 9 from West Didsbury to Reddish.
