Companion home only, this is because due to his past we just don't know if he would be safe under the saddle or not. It wouldn't be fair for him to have come this far in restoring his faith in humans only for it to be ruined!
Copper came to me at the start of 2023. He’s a very nervous boy but once he gets to know you he puts all his trust into you and is really sweet and loves having some attention.
I’m not 100% sure on Copper's past, but going off his behaviour I’m guessing he’s had a tough life, he doesn't like to feel trapped and he knows how to make sure he isn't bullied by other horses.
Previously he has been given away for being "uncatchable" but this is something we have worked really hard on using natural horsemanship techniques.
Copper has been doing some touch training which he seems to have taken to very well.
Some days he’ll be caught within a couple of minutes, other days he won’t let you near him for 5/10 minutes before he comes to you. The important thing is that it's his decision to be caught.
Once caught he has perfect in hand manners when being led, we've worked on going in and out of gates and going past traffic
He will leave the field without his companions and he has been left in the field by himself before with no issue.
We are currently working on getting him used to having his legs touched. I had him sedated to have his feet trimmed just to make it a more positive experience for him. With more time and training I feel copper would accept his legs being touched.
He needs someone who’s into natural horsemanship and has the time and patience to put into him. He's been really fun and rewarding to work with, All he wants is to know he can trust you.
He does stable, but due to his nervousness I would say he’s much happier living out.
He has been living with mares but previously has lived with geldings too
