VINTAGE SINGER SKIRT HEMLINE MARKER. CHALK TYPE. HABERDASHERY. DRESS MAKING

This is a rare opportunity to acquire a complete and fully operational Singer skirt marker from the 1950’s, which is in very good used condition. It was made in America and sold at that time for $3.50.

This handy bit of kit is used to mark hemlines from 2.5 inches to 30 inches accurately, quickly and easily - with no assistance necessary.

Given the original retail packaging still contains all its components this classic item is highly collectable, as well as being a useful tool for modern day dress makers.

Accompanied by an instruction leaflet, printed in the USA in both English and French, this device is comprised of the following parts:

• Heavyweight white powder coated metal base with the words: “Singer Skirt Marker” in red lettering on the top;

• Wing nut for attaching the base to the ruler;

• Wooden ruler;

• Chalk powder dispenser and powder container;

• Chalk powder;

• Rubber tube with rubber squeeze bulb at one end.

Although there is already sufficient chalk powder in this device for it to be used straight away, the storage box also contains an additional supply which my father obtained for my mother when he first purchased the skirt marker for her.

The storage box is approximately 76.5 cm long x 10 cm wide x 5 cm deep.

This item is in very good used Vintage condition overall. The last two red letters of the word Marker on the metal base are slightly worn. Also at some point in its long life Bedroom 3 was written on the top of the cardboard box.

Please refer to the photographs provided to make your own assessment regarding condition.

This is a private sale from a pet, smoke and Covid free home.

Buyer to collect, and pay cash on collection please. Regret no returns accepted. Thank you.
