I believe this is an Antique Cheese Press / Mould but it is possible that it could also be used for Butter. But please do your own research.
It's made from what looks like Oak with cast iron bands.
It's tapered so the upper diameter is 5 3/4" wide. The bottom diameter is 5 1/4" & it's 3 1/4" tall.
In expected used condition for an item of this age & nature. There's a little movement in some of the pieces of wood, but they will not come out due to the metal bands. I'm guessing that as it gets wet, the wood swells & expands to make the joints tighter. There are lots of drainage holes in it.
It's very smooth & tactile.
