Billie is a smart and substantial pony and fine for children and adults. believed to be Shetland x Dartmoor.
She is not strong, has good brakes and can be ridden on or off the lead rein.
I feel that Billie would suit being in a riding school or a home with bigger children/adult.
She will go round a school, can be riden in fields and also hacking.
She is happy to pop over a small pole - she might do more, however, we have not done much jumping with her at all.
I have found her good to hack, she walks out nicely and has been fine with most traffic, a little worried about large vehicles but didn't do anything silly.
i bought her recently for my little boy who is a beginner, he enjoys riding her and she is lovely for him to plod around on. She is good on the lunge with or without a rider.
The issues we have had with her are that she is not very willing when it comes to little children riding her forward - she will walk round with them for hours but is lazy in the trot for them. For an adult or a bigger child she is much more responsive and gets on with it.
Also, she doesn't appear to like being groomed and handled by small children. She has not done anything worse than pull faces, however, if a bigger child or adult is grooming etc she is happy.
It is very sad for my little boy who is a gentle child and not ambitious in terms of riding but really wants a cuddly pony to groom and lead.
Billie has not ever bitten or lifted a hoof, however, she does pull faces at him and this is the reason that we are looking for a home that will suit her better.
Billie is a sweet girl and has many lovely qualities.
She has never spooked, bucked, reared, kicked, however, she is a typical pony and will take liberties given a chance.
Her manners have improved since she has been with us and she really responds well to firm but fair management.
I do see her being a fun and safe pony for a bigger child or small adult.
