A Large Solid Mahogany Candle Box for Restoration.
I believe it's Welsh in origin but please do your own research. It has a nice heart carved out & nice fret work.
It measures just under 18 3/4" long at its longest point & has a loverly taper & colour. The photograph has made it look slightly more reddish than it actually is. But once restored & waxed it will look fantastic again.
In expected used condition for a item of this age & nature. The mahogany lid needs reattaching. There's a few holes left where it was once attached over the years. You could hide them & reattach it with either a strip of leather or metal hinge. There's also historical damage, as there's a piece of wood missing at the bottom front which requires repair. Sadly I don't have the missing piece of wood, as it was already missing prior to me buying it.
Fully restored I've seen these sell for a lot of money.
