Sad LWVTB of my 13hh just turned 6yo Cob, Scooby.
Genuine honest ad.
Please read full ad as a special home is required. I've had him since 5 months old so I know him very well.
Scooby is as wide as he is tall. He has a great sturdy build with masses of hair and bone.
He is good to groom, wash, pick feet, rug, tie, clip etc. Nothing phases him.
Happy to be stabled, first out or last in.
Loves other horses and ponies, really enjoys a groom with any age/type of horse.
Good to catch and will come to call if he's hungry.
He isn't spooky at all and enjoys walks up the lane on his own.
He has a been sat on twice, once without tack and once with a full set of tack and enjoyed a walk up the lane and back and didn't bat an eye.
We have walked over a motorway bridge and he is great.
He can be very loving at times and enjoys a scratch.
When he is in a routine he thrives.
He has lunged walk and trot happily.
The problems:
Scooby requires a kind but firm handler. He can be food aggressive.
Can kick/bite. Although he has mostly done a
warning nip or a hop without kicking the legs out. Happens when asked to move back or over etc.
He does not always appreciate being approached by anyone he doesn't trust.
He will warn and then nip and threaten to kick when his boundaries are ignored. This is different in a field setting as he is often first over to greet people when they are poo picking.
He does not like kids. Likely as they are more unpredictable as they do not read him.
He can also be quite ticklish.
Most of these behaviours are alot more frequent in winter when turnout is limited and he is more hungry.
It is my belief that with the right person he would thrive. I am only selling him as I lack the experience and confidence to help him through these issues and he likely knows this.
Should things be okay then he will be available on permanent loan or sale, the choice being yours.
