A short history of the company. Beginning in East London, Meredew was founded in 1879 by Daniel Meredew who worked as a cabinet maker and carver, specialising in overmantel mirrors. Fred Hard, son of the glass supplier for the mirrors, took over the company in 1907 on Meredew's retirement and moved the business to Hertfordshire in 1913.
