Advert Description
Along with North Western’s Bristol K5Gs and Guy Arabs the Leyland PD2s, most of which were delivered in 1947 and 1948, proved indispensable in providing reliable double decker passenger service before all were eventually replaced by front entrance Daimler Fleetlines, AEC Renowns and Dennis Lolines.
This smartly turned out model is returning to Stockport from Wilmslow via Woodford and Bramhall and carries advertisements for Thom’s Castile Soap and 1910 South African Sherry: both of which were products of the day in the mid 1950s at a time when all North Western’s double deckers were having their roofs painted red, rather than the white shown on this vehicle.
The actual vehicle this represents, 224, is in preservation today and in full working order and roadworthy.
It has never been out if its box (see photos of a second model).
The background building is for photo enhancement.
