Advert Description

Soay Sheep are fantastic grass cutters!
They will work hard, keeping your grass well cut, 24/7!

Our Soay have wonderful colours. Each one has his or her own character and very good looks

Wethers are castrated males - Soay have horns, very handsome -their horns grow, but not to the same extent as Rams horns.

Wethers are gentle and as they're castrated, they can happily live alongside ewes, rams, other friendly animals, or in a herd on their own.

Wethers from this years lambing & one year old boys

Soay are a Native Heritage Breed, so do not suffer from many conditions of commercial do.

Soay self moult, so do not need shearing.

Owning Soay sheep is a wonderful journey - if you're new to sheep keeping, there's a lot to learn online, or do get in touch to discuss...

You will need a land CPH number. These can be obtained easily online. You also need animal transport. We can help for local transport, for cost.

Your field must be stock fenced - again do get in touch to discuss if you are unsure.

Soay also require a good water supply, & shade - they like to stay out in winter, so may need extra hay if the ground is covered with snow.
They are a natural, beautiful, relatively easy breed, needing regular checking as all animals do - but you will want to do that, to see how rewarding they are when they come running to munch their sheep nuts!
