We are looking for a lovely rider for frolicking fun 1 or 2 days per week, Initially try for a couple of months and review. He lives mainly out in fields (brought in only overnight if consistent very bad/wet weather) and then you will need to muck out in morning, waste left in bucket outside stable door to be collected. He has a big eva/rubber matted stable with shavings. Really lovely, gentle temperament, always a pleasure to be around. Rider needs to be RELIABLE, kind, have a good understanding of horse care, be able to ride and understand half halts as he can have a turn of joyous speed. Very easy to control if you know what you are doing though as he is very well trained - no novices and minimum insurances of BHS gold.
No maintenance jobs when out as fields are cared for but he must have appropriate grooming and care to good standard before and after riding e.g. groom and feet before and after riding, sponge off sweat (he is clipped) after riding, wipe down tack.
His welfare is paramount.
He lives on Cleeve Hill (Winchcombe) with direct access to ride over this glorious common.
He hacks usually alone but sometimes in company, no difference in his behaviour. Will help you open gates and you can get on and off him without issue.
He really is superb, sensitive to his rider and very much loved. You must live locally to make this sustainable. Neighbours have school to hire (£5 towards new surface). Would support sponsored rides and low level competition if it works out as have my own transport. I am a BHS instructor myself and we have competed nationally together in dressage, show jumping and unaffiliated one day events. For fun and in public demonstrations he has also done dressage to music.
No hunting. No team chasing.
£92 pcm towards shoes and boarding (…and food, gut balancer, clipping, insurances, blanket washing, preventative fly/foot sprays, 8 weekly physio - you know how it is to keep them tip top healthy and happy).
