CONTENTS
Among the numerous scientific topics such as sperm worms or the eggs of viviparous females, of particular interest are the chapters dedicated to the "Monster born in Milan" with the description of Carlo Mazzucchilli and followed by descriptions of other "monsters" such as the one born in Bologna, the "bicorporeal" cut by Mr. Zambeccari or the "two-bodied monster of a cat, but with only one head".

The "History of the generation of man and of animals, whether from spermatic vermicelli or from eggs" contains some of Vallisnieri's most important writings on embryology and on the generation of insects and parasites. With a treatise on sterility, and its remedies, an academic discourse on the connexion of all created things, and with some observations of Illustrious men.

Antonio Vallisneri (1661-1730), Italian physician, scientist, naturalist and biologist, was the author of important studies on the generation of insects, animals in general, man and plants, as well as works on anatomy. He is known for having been one of the first medical researchers to have proposed the abandonment of Aristotelian theory in favor of the experimental approach based on scientific principles advocated by Galileo Galilei.
