---------------
Jean-François Regnard, born February 7, 1655 in Paris and died September 4, 1709 at the Château de Grillon in Dourdan, was a French writer and playwright.
He is considered in the 18th and 19th centuries as the best French comic poet after Molière1. Voltaire said about him: “Whoever does not like Regnard is not worthy of admiring Molière. »
In addition to his famous comedies, we owe him accounts of his travels, a little novel, La Provençale, which is only his own story, as well as various poems, among which we note a Satire against husbands, in response to the Boileau's satire against women. (cf. Wikipedia) 67580969
