Handwritten mathematics course
around 1850
2 volumes, contemporary binding, half sheepskin
Mathematical manuscript from the middle of the 19th century, probably that of a professor. The level is close to that expected on the certificate of studies.
- a course in arithmetic (291 pp., half of which are white), with numeration, main operations (including divisibility and prime numbers), fractions, the metric system, proportional divisions (with their economic application; finds in particular a section on the discount at the end of the manuscript).
- an algebra course (850 pp. of which a little more than half are white) addressed to older students covering monomials and polynomials, reduction of fractions, 1st and 2nd degree equations, absolute maximums and minimums, logarithms, dampings and variations of functions.
Rubbing, small loss to the head cover of the "algebra" volume, slightly rubbed corners, discoloration on the leather of the covers. Burnished paper. 67461897
