New edition (10th) with mention "considerably increased, & put in better order" of this great classic of rural and agricultural life first published in 1700 by Louis Liger (1658-1717), since reissued and constantly increased.

Illustrated with a frontispiece and 35 engravings out of text (including two folding plates depicting presses) and numerous woodcuts in the text, several of which relate to hunting and falconry.

The subjects are covered in great detail, each article gives a precise image of the techniques and methods used at the beginning of the 19th century: hunting, fishing, gastronomy and wine, with numerous cooking, pastry and jam recipes. , liqueurs, bees, but also on construction, gardens and how to design them, the barnyard, horses, harvests, all species of trees and shrubs, birds etc etc. The success of this encyclopedia is to have been able to concentrate a maximum of practical knowledge (without facilities or vulgarizations) in an almost playful way for the reader, the chapters on the garden are exemplary in this respect.

Two period bindings in full marbled & glazed calfskin, ribbed spine adorned with a title and volume number piece, decor with fleuron partitions struck with gilt irons. Red slices.

Condition: Restorations to crowns, joints and flat edges. Solid volumes. Fairly fresh interior, slight foxing, edges of the margins a little yellowed. In good condition.
Well printed, embellished with woodcut letterpress ornaments.
