Sauceboat and its independent frame in Paris porcelain from the Louis XV period, late 18th century. Rococo in shape, it bears a beautiful polychrome floral decoration on a white background, the edges with wolf teeth gilded with fine gold. Work from the Duke of Angoulême factory, around 1780.

The Manufacture du Duc d'Angoulême established rue de Bondy was one of the many Parisian manufactures which sought the protection of a member of the Royal family to obtain a privilege and the prestige of a name and coat of arms which they could display. on their storefront and invoices. The great character drew substantial financial compensation from it. This is the case with the factories of the Count of Provence, the Count of Artois, the Duke of Orléans, the Queen and even the very young 6-year-old Duke of Angoulême. This system disappeared during the Revolution with the abolition of privileges.

In addition to its prestigious patronage, the particularity of this factory lies in the name of its entrepreneurs Dihl & Guérhard, who made a prestigious destiny for themselves under the Empire by supplying the Imperial family and the crowned heads of Europe. Until the Revolution, they signed their products with an oval stamp containing the Duke's cipher, surmounted by the prince's crown, like our sauce boat which belongs to its earliest and rarest productions.
After the Revolution and under the Empire, they replaced the mark with “MM. of Guerhard and Dihl”. And under the Restoration, they took up the reference of the Old Regime of the Duke of Angoulême: "MANUFAC DE MGR LE DUC D'ANGOULÊME A PARIS. »

Beautiful collector's item, interesting for its frame independent of the sauce boat. Fresh colors and gilding. In very good general condition, small chips at the tips of the rock style side handles.
