Bernard Buffet was born on July 10, 1928 in Paris, in the Batignolles district, son of Charles Buffet and Blanche Colombe.
For his admirers, Bernard Buffet is pure genius. Received at the age of 15 at the National School of Fine Arts, he only stayed two years and decided to work alone. Introduced to collectors by the painter Aujame, he was awarded the Prix de la Critique at the age of 20 (1948), tied with Bernard Lorjou. In 1955, Buffet won the referendum organized by the magazine Savoir des Arts which crowned him the best post-war French artist. A master of misery, Bernard Buffet has found his place in the greatest museums in the world; Japan even dedicated one entirely to him at Surugadaira, founded by Kiichiro Okano in 1973, with a fund of nearly a thousand works. 67530967
