Catawiki’s goal is to make special objects universally available. Our weekly auctions feature thousands of unusual, rare, and exceptional objects you won’t find in just any store. While extremely collectible, Pierce chronographs are not all that rare. Signed version with the all-powerful 134 pulsations caliber used by British Army medics during WW2. The watch also includes what appears to be the nylon nato strap.
The first Pierce chronograph was developed in 1936/37, with a single pusher design and a self-manufactured column wheel movement, the caliber 130. In 1939, Pierce launched the caliber 134 and developed a stronger case (subsequent cases to the 1939 are usually immaculate compared to older examples). The 134 was operated by two buttons, often called up/down due to their reverse configuration. This watch matches the cases manufactured between 1939 and 1943.
The example you see here was probably shipped to the UK, as Pierce was the main supplier of watches to the British Army in the 1940s. Condition: Good. Some signs of use, but nothing major. The case has probably been polished in the past. See pictures for more details.
Case dimensions: 33.5 x 39.5 mm
Movement: Pierce column-wheel chronograph caliber 134. 67146429
