RARE TREATISE OF DEMONOLOGY, MEDICINE, OCCULTISM, by Levinus Lemnius (Zierikzee 1505 –1568), Dutch doctor and writer, studied in Louvain and was an important figure of his time, was a pupil of Vesalius and Gessner; he was nicknamed "the hygienist", a proponent of a knowledge of medicine for a better quality of life. The work immediately went through numerous reprints after the 1559 first edition from Simon's presses.

CONTENTS
A work in which medical and dietary issues come into contact with the world of the occult, the oneiric and the monstrous. The treatise deals with many natural, curious topics: hereditary characters, gynecology, sleepwalking, drunkenness and the properties of wine, dreams, conservation and properties of foods, herbs, as well as natural phenomena.

CONDITION REPORT
In-24°, pp. (16), 582, (58 of Index). 4 works of Lemnius in 1 vol. Coeval half parchment binding with marbled plates. Title embossed in gold on spine. Widespread foxing, dark pages, burnished cuts. Woodcut drop caps and fronts. Frieze engraved on the title page, with manuscript Ex libris. Ex libris red label applied to the second endpaper. Good copy a little short at the upper margin. Woodworm holes from page. 27 to page 32 (outer lower margin), from page. 165 on p. 198.
