Catawiki’s goal is to make special objects universally available. Our weekly auctions feature thousands of unusual, rare, and exceptional objects you won’t find in just any store. The Alfa Romeo importer in the United States, 'Max Hoffman' of New York, asked Alfa Romeo's top management to produce a 'spider' version of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint and immediately committed to buying 2,500 examples to offer on the North American market, which has always been very receptive to 'open' versions of sports cars.
And so began the long history of the world's best-known spider.

The car at auction:
The car was created in 1961 in red with a black interior, kept for several years by the same owner, in the 1970s it was sold to a collector who let it rest in his garage.

In 2021, it was sold to a private individual who began an in-depth restoration project with the idea of improving the stylistic features.
After one year of intensive work and delicate interventions, as per the photo documentation, a car with a splendid colour and quality combination was (re)born.

The exterior colour was of its period and was one of the possible choices (Graphite Grey 716), the interior in genuine 'Fiore' leather was optional with a significant economic difference.
The Nardi steering wheel and knob were also among the options that could be ordered.

The combination is unique and honours Italian style.

The mechanical part has been completely overhauled.
The (original) engine is still running in.

It can be seen in Matera, Italy. 67305359
