Loredana Meo was born in Erice in 1973. She lives and works in Marsala. After studying painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, she began an artistic journey through figurative painting, inspired by the glorious past of Italian art, above all by the great Caravaggio and naturalistic mastery, to the point of being defined as a "contemporary Caravaggist ”.
Over time, maturing new expressive needs, the artist discovers "Photography", conceiving a new and evolutionary language, based on the idea of "Concept - image - communication", thus, the photographic work becomes his imaginary vision, in which he unites his thought to the matrix of classical painting, while always maintaining the naturalistic style.
In the cycle of these works, the artist makes a careful introspective analysis of the inner ways of the soul, investigates the relationship between man and being, engaged in the singular search for the meaning of one's existence, stimulating self-exploration.
The man stuck in individualism ends up closing in on himself, manifesting his inadequacies. Following his conversion to faith, the artist understands the infinite value of the "Little I", because it is destined for eternal bliss.
The poetics built by Loredana Meo tells something that interacts and makes you think. His works represent a visual scene, formulated according to a naturalistic timbre, which, although "Nature morte", one perceives a profound allegorical and moral interpretation of a spiritual nature, a sensation that in some cases almost seems to smell the perfume or to enter that dimension, per mirarsi, a still life that invites us to contemplate, in which the plasticity of the figures is highlighted by the particular lighting that reveals the volumes of the objects that suddenly emerge from the dark, creating a surreal imagery thanks to vibrant passages of light and shadow.
Loredana Meo has collaborated on various projects with associations and institutions, from 2017 to 2019 she taught in the chair of painting at the Kandinsky Academy of Fine Arts. He has participated in exhibitions in the area, adhering to the project "The Myths and the territory_ Sicily with a thousand cultures". His works are part of national and international private collections.
