Johannes Bertelius [also Jean Bertels ] (1544 – 1607), abbot of Echternach, was born in Leuven. Bertelius' major work is Historia Luxemburgensis, History of Luxembourg.

CONTENTS
Lodovico Guicciardini (Florence, 1521 - Antwerp, 1589) was an Italian writer and merchant, who spent most of his life in Antwerp. His most famous work, the Description of all the Netherlands otherwise known as Lower Germany (1566). Published in English in 1593 under the title The Description of the Low Countreys, it is a highly influential account of the history of art in the Low Countries.
Jean-Baptiste Gramaye or Grammaye (Antwerp, 1579 - Lübeck 1635), known in the Republic of Letters as Joannes-Baptista Gramayus, is a Brabant historian, diplomat and geographer of the Latin language. He was a professor at the University of Louvain.
Willem Janszoon Blaeu, Latinized Guilielmus Jansonius Blavius (1571 - Amsterdam, 1638), illustrator of the frontispiece, was a Dutch cartographer, navigator and publisher, he was appointed official cartographer of the Dutch East India Company. Blaeu's works are to be considered real masterpieces which constituted a standard of perfection destined to remain unattainable for a long time. Original maps are very rare collector's items.

In 24°, pp. 450. Leather binding, with gilt frame embossed on the plates and friezes on the spine with nerves. Cover worn on plates and spine. Burnished and protruding cuts in the central part. Widespread foxing. Intaglio title page by Willem Janszoon Blaeu; some small holes in the lower and upper margins of the page. Drop caps in large font.
