Art deco figurine cast in metal alloy (early 20th century) of nude with green applied patina, by sculptor Gustav Adolf Daumiller (1876-1962).

Daumiller started his studies in 1898 at the Drawing Academy in Hanau, after which he continued his studies from 1902 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. In the years 1902 to 1904 he continued his art education in London, from 1904 to 1905 at the Académie Julian in Paris and there from 1905 to 1907 at the École des Beaux-Arts.

From 1908 he had a studio in Munich, where he collaborated with, among others, the prominent German sculptor Adolf von Hildebrand. During the following years he was regularly represented at art exhibitions. In 1939 he caused a sensation when his bronze equestrian figurine with a banner bearer on horseback was bought for 1500 Reichsmark at the Great German Art Exhibition in Munich by Nazi leader Theo Memmel. During the National Socialist period, on the other hand, he also made designs for sculptures that were made into porcelain by the Rosenthal company.

Daumiller was a member of various artists' organizations, including the Munich artists' cooperative and the Allotria artists' society. In addition to large and small sculptures, Daumiller designed and made tombstones, medals and plaques.

His works are scarce and can only occasionally be found at auctions. The figurine is marked on the back and is in very good condition.
