Beautiful work by Martinus Nefkens Oil on canvas 48 x 65 cm, signed lower left The painter Martinus Jacobus Nefkens was born on June 1, 1866 in Hedikhuizen. He died on December 24, 1941 in Ede.
Nefkens lived and worked in Antwerp, Amsterdam, Gorkum, The Hague and Lunteren. He was a student of the Drawing Academy in Antwerp and of the Hague School master Hendrik Willem Mesdag.
Nefkens painted and used watercolours entirely in the style of the Hague School, mainly landscapes and moorscapes with sheep.
He was a member of “Arti et Amicitiae” in Amsterdam. 67624521
