Catawiki’s goal is to make special objects universally available. Our weekly auctions feature thousands of unusual, rare, and exceptional objects you won’t find in just any store. Francesco Toraldo was born in Catanzaro in 1960.

In 1974 he enrolled in the art high school of Catanzaro, where he attended only one year. However, it was in the studio of his father Enzo (also a painter) that he learned the fundamental rules of colour that allowed him to start his career with his first oil works. His first exhibitions took place in the eighties in Genoa, Rome, and Lecce.

MULTIPLE RETOUCHED BY HAND.
Overall size: 50 x 50 cm.

Edition of 50 copies, each of them is different from the others because they are retouched by hand. They may have some minor colour variations.

Please note: the edition number may be different from that shown in the images. However, you will receive a work with the same identical features as the piece depicted in this auction.

Please note: the work includes a new handmade frame, but no glass, as no courier guarantees that it remains intact.

Beautiful multiple work, Fine Art giclée by master Francesco Toraldo, where the influence of the American abstract expressionism (especially Pollock and action painting) is evident in his style. In the production of his works, we can see very strong gestural elements that lead him to fill the surfaces, forming a chaotic whirl of colours. The figuration, the subject of the canvas, finally emerges from this whirl and harmoniously blends.

“Luna Rossa” is the name of a series of sailing boats relating to competitions, lined up by the Italian trade union Luna Rossa Challenge.
The first Luna Rossa was launched in 1999; since then other boats have been built with the same name, corresponding to different sailing classes, the most important of which have participated in editions of the Louis Vuitton Cup / Prada Cup (two editions won) and the America’s Cup.

The work is completed by a beautiful white handcrafted pickled closed corner frame.
