Caption:
To this day it is unclear who served as the model for this woodcut by Emil Dolde. The interpretations of the experts range from the self-portrait to all the biblical prophets. With the expression as if all the misfortunes in the world weighed on him, this image has become the icon of all unlucky ducks.
