The Blue Tram is the collective name for the trams that ran between 1881 and 1961 in the Dutch provinces of North and South Holland between Scheveningen, The Hague, Leiden, Katwijk, Noordwijk, Haarlem, Zandvoort, Amsterdam, Purmerend, Edam and Volendam and from 1924 had a dark blue color.
In the 1920s, 30s and 40s, the Blue Tram was an important traffic artery in the region. The fast and high-frequency tram services made living in commuter villages such as Voorburg and Overveen attractive, in an era when the bicycle was the fastest private means of transport for most people. The Blue Tram has therefore made an important contribution to the development of commuter places in the region.

The painting is sold including a wooden floating frame and 'Certificate of Authenticity'.
