Third precious edition of this important topographical work, published in the first edition in 1642 and taken up by Caspar in 1653.
The ‘ Topographia Helvetiae….’ represents the first part of a comprehensive general topography of Germany.
Having proved to be a good commercial success, he encouraged Merian to extend publication to subsequent parts.

Unfortunately, the work is incomplete and missing ALL the illustrations.
On the other hand, there is a beautiful frontispiece engraving, from the original edition of 1642, as well as the title page, intact, and all the text and index cards,
with the exception of the Fiii card (pages 45/46 see photo) which will in any case be reproduced in facsimile and attached to the volume.
Trim the Eiii (37/38) and Fii (43/44) cards, as well as the first and last card
of the index, without however involving the text, which is regularly consultable.
Beautiful and robust coeval full leather binding, with engraved label, bearing the title, on the spine with 6 raised bands.
Plates framed in a gilt frame.
Very well preserved title page and
the frontispiece.
Evident signs of tampering with the cards in correspondence with the missing illustrations.
In any case, fresh and clean papers, perfectly consultable.
Very good specimen as a studio copy,
or for integration of frontispiece and title page, or binding for another copy. 67461219
