Catawiki’s goal is to make special objects universally available. Our weekly auctions feature thousands of unusual, rare, and exceptional objects you won’t find in just any store. Rare work whose author, captain of dragoons (1690-1770), presents himself as an "eyewitness" to the campaigns of Vendôme: he was wounded at the battle of Villaviciosa, and collected papers from his general.
But, moreover, he was the favorite and confidant of the duke, who took him to Spain from 1710 to 1711, doubtless in consideration of his brother, the Grand Prior of Vendôme, of whom Bellerive was doubtless the natural son.
His testimony is therefore of the greatest interest, despite his bias in favor of his hero -
The National Library also has eight manuscript volumes that Bellerive wrote to organize and implement Vendôme's correspondence -
The Duke of Vendosme - History of the Campaigns of Monsignor the Duke of Vendosme - 1715
