by Jean Certe (1643-1716).

The name of the printer and the place of printing are fictitious.

Jean Certe was sued several times for counterfeiting

and imprisoned twice for bookstore misdemeanors.



This edition is an attributed translation

to Father Emery, from the Oratory (according to the BNF),

of this work written by Brian Walton (1600-1661),

Bishop of Chester,

famous for his "Biblia Polyglotta" of 1657,

blacklisted by Rome.



It is followed by a translation of two of the treatises

contained in Walton's "Biblicus apparatus":



"Treatise of Hebraisms",



“Treatise on Selected Proverbs of Sacred Scripture”

by Johannes Drusius (1550-1616).



Printer's mark on the sphere.



In-8 (19 x 13 cm) of (VI) 490 pp.



Excellent condition.

Manuscript ex-libris on title page, one scratched.

Period full sheepskin binding.

Dull bottom corners.

Interior good with foxing.

Traces of humidity on top of pages 1 to 6.
