The diesel-electric locomotive DE 6400 is a diesel locomotive built by MaK (Vossloh) which is based on the German DE 1002. In 1985, 60 were ordered by NS. In 1989 an order of 60 locomotives followed. The diesel locomotives have the company numbers 6401-6520. The locomotives reach a maximum speed of 120 km/h and can be switched to a maximum of 4 units of traction.
