Hundreds of paintings, etchings, gouaches and drawings were left behind by Jaap Schreurs (The Hague and Utrecht). In strong and personal visual language, his work expresses an intense involvement with what is happening in the world, what is done to people, what they do to others.
His works are of superior quality and show great versatility in format, technique and theme. Their atmosphere varies from cruel to loving, from macabre to playful, from fiercely accusatory to mild - but they always appeal to the spectator, asking, begging, screaming for his answer.
