The Journal des voyages et desaventures de terre et de mer is a French weekly created in Paris in July 1877 and disappeared in 1949.
He mixed realistic accounts of travel and exploration with incredible fiction, all profusely illustrated, often in a fantastic way.
At the beginning of 1877, Maurice Dreyfous (1843-1924) joined forces with Georges Decaux with the aim of launching a weekly on exploration trips and aimed at a popular audience. The Journal des voyages et desaventures de terre et de mer benefits from the experience of a publicist like Decaux who had taken over the collection from his friend and associate François Polo, creator of L'Éclipse, an illustrated satirical journal which disappeared a year later. early.
