I have here for sale a book entitled Story of the Niger. A Record of Travel and Adventure from the Days of Mungo Park to the Present Time by Richardson, Robert. Published by Thomas Nelson & Sons, London, 1898. Reprint, with 31 illustrations. Frontispiece of Mungo Park, title vignette of the ruins of the cottage, which was Mungo Park born. There are 26 illustrations, many of them full-page plates, and 2 Maps; one map of Park's travels in Africa, with the course of the Niger, and another map showing the basins of the Niger.

Blue cloth ornately decorated in black and blind with gilt title, and decorated with a lion head and a sailship on frontboard. Gilt title block on the spine, decorated with a lion head and an anchor. Gently bruised at the head‚ tail and corners of the binding with two small knocks to the upper board. A little age-toning to the edges of the text block and onto the blanks. Prize plate to the pastedown. The contents complete‚ clean and tight otherwise. A nice fresh copy of this story of the exploration of the Niger for younger readers. Includes both of Mungo Park's expeditions as well as those of Clapperton and the Landers, Captain Gallieni, Dr Barth and Mr Thompson. (xii) 357 (2 ads.) pages, 19 x 14 cm. 67545347
