¶ Frans Masereel (1889-1972) was a Flemish graphic artist, woodcarver, painter and draftsman. He is considered the most important woodcarver and graphic artist of the 20th century with his own vision and his opposition to modern life in the big cities. His woodcuts are an indictment of the exploitation of ordinary people.
