The painter is Georges Alfred BOTTINI, a French artist from the end of the last quarter of the 19th century who had a brilliant but short life. He died at only 34 years old, in 1907.
Georges Alfred Bottini belonged to the art nouveau artistic style, advertising. His works are exhibited in the most famous museums in Paris and Geneva.
“At thirty he had perfected his art to the point that he could express himself with simple brushes as expressively as Edgar Poe did with a pen. What gives Bottini's smallest sketches so much charm is that a spirit seems to have drawn them less to imitate reality than to reveal to us the secret of his reverie... He was a man perpetually in search of new forms but also applied to the study of masterpieces and who spent hours meditating on Goya, Watteau, Rembrandt, Vélasquez", said one of his friends.
