Pablo Ruiz Picasso, born October 25, 1881 in Malaga and died April 8, 1973 in Mougins, was a Spanish painter, draftsman, sculptor and engraver who spent most of his life in France. Artist using all media for his work, he is considered one of the founders of cubism. He is one of the most important artists of the 20th century, both for his technical and formal contributions and for his political positions. He produced nearly 50,000 works. Among his most famous works are the proto-Cubist Les Demoiselles d'Avignon and Guernica, a dramatic depiction of the bombardment of Guernica during the Spanish Civil War. 67452465
