Beautiful Antique Circa 1880 Statue in Pipe Earth Sacred Statue of Joseph with Baby Jesus
Saint Joseph as father of Jesus. The evangelists Matthew and Luke present him as the foster father of Jesus and not as the biological father. Matthew is accurate. He is not talking about begotten – as he does for all the ancestors in the genealogy of Jesus. He describes Joseph as the husband of Mary and from her Jesus was born (1,16). While Luke says that Joseph was the father of Jesus in the conception of men (3.23), he seemed to be his father.
