Juan Pardo Forteza (Barcelona, 1924 – Olot, Girona, 2007), renowned self-taught painter who recently died. Born in the Raval in Barcelona on June 5, 1924.
He is the author of mural paintings in temples and parishes such as the one in the Church of Torres del Segre measuring 10 x 8 m. or the dome of the Macarena Brotherhood in the church of Sant Agustí in Barcelona. His murals have served as decorations in different manor residences, restaurants, offices, companies, etc. Located in Spain, France, Switzerland, Italy, Algeria, Washington, New York, etc.
Joan Pardo was a veteran painter who maintained his line regardless of the subjects. Thus, sometimes he leans towards marinas and sailboats that move through rough seas with their sails unfurled to the wind. And other times he leans towards themes marked by the human, capturing old peasants devoted to letting time go by when their work is done. Or it expands in spectacular landscapes, in which the water of rivers or lakes is present with snow-capped mountains in the background. Without forgetting his work done on gold leaf, a specialty in which he achieved highly spectacular results.
