Classic work of surgery published in Latin in 1620 under the title Opera chirurgica (Frankfort 1620) which went through more than 20 editions, translated into many languages.

Several in-text figures engraved on wood. Title to the sphere.

Girolamo Fabrizi d'Acquapendente (1537-1619) was above all, in the chair of anatomy of Padua, a master whose personal discoveries favored those of some of his students, in particular William Harvey (1578-1657). We owe him the description of the valves located inside the veins (De venarum ostiolis, 1603). He advocated the ligation of the arteries to stop the haemorrhages, and the tracheotomy in certain forms of diphtheria; he became interested in surgery of the urethra and was the first to compare the development of the human embryo to that of animals.

Among his main works are also: De brutorum loquelâ (Padua 1603); De formato foetu (Venice 1600); De locutione (Venice 1627); Tractatus anatomicus triplex (Frankfort 1614). Surgical Opera. (Frankfurt 1620)
