** Simon van Leeuwen (17 October 1626 in Leiden - 14 January 1682 there) was a lawyer in the 17th century. He studied literature and both law at the University of Leiden. After graduating in 1646, he became a lawyer in The Hague and later in Leiden. In 1681 he was appointed to the Supreme Court of the Netherlands. Until the end of the 18th century his work was widely translated. A bronze statue of him made by Hildo Krop stands at the building of the Supreme Court on the Korte Voorhout, The Hague. 67551075
