Brown paper, title page partly loose, some ink movement, rare stains, a bit short cut at the top with some light damage to the pagination.
Late 19th C olive green semi-percaline, smooth threaded gilt back (rubbed, brown back with small spots, serviceable caps). Contemporary copy, unfinished, of a work published in 1810 in Paris, by S.C. L'Huillier (2 parts in-12).
This epistolary novel, inspired by the legend of Geneviève de Brabant, is extremely rare (WorldCat: 3 copies of which 2 in France). "The author took the stage there under the name Sylvius, a translation of his name Du Bois".
Upper white flyleaf replaced by a handwritten title in another handwriting ("Geneviève de Brabant/ 1810"). Picturesque note ms. old: "This book of an innocent [sic] was bought in 1859, in Turin, under the porches of the rue du Pô". - 67431689
