Cardboard publisher Hetzel "with the golden globe" or "with the World Map" in full red percaline signed Engel, first cover polychrome signed Blanchelant, second cover type "i" as indicated by Jauzac, back with lighthouse, original blue flyleaves , all golden edges.

Good top plate, bright gilding, Insolated spine with tarnished gilding. Bits, corners and caps a little rubbed, not serious. The hinge (blue paper) in very good condition. Fragments cut from the margin of pp 175-178 (see photo). Slightly browned paper, some foxing, mainly marginal. Slightly out of order notebooks.

Bourses de voyage is one of Jules Verne's most misunderstood novels.
Summary
Antilian School is a renowned London college, which exclusively welcomes young people from the West Indies. Nine of its residents have just been awarded travel grants, offered by a wealthy landowner from Barbados, Mrs. Seymour. But the seas are unsafe at this time and piracy is never far away.
