Victor Vasarely (1908-1997)
Inventor of Op Art, (without the help of a computer!) born in Hungary and died in France, Vasarely was a leading artist of the 20th century. His name is associated with a real visual revolution whose impact can be seen in the art, design and landscapes of our cities. The assembled shapes, colours and contrasts of his works create a visual experience that is continually renewed.
Vasarely's desire to bring art within everyone's reach is accompanied by an intimate wish: to nourish the soul of the general public with beauty and poetry.
His perfectionism demanded absolute quality. Because, according to Vasarely, ‘originals are no more significant than their reproductions’.
