FIRST EDITION OF THE VENETIAN BIBLE BY GIOLITO DE FERRARI WITH WOOD INSPIRED BY TITIAN
Volume with very rich iconographic apparatus, 245 woodcuts in the text: 134 engravings in the Old Testament and 111 engravings in the New Testament. It has been proposed to attribute this cycle of XILOGRAPHS to the hand of Johann Britt, the engraver closest to Titian. Richly engraved first title page, elaborated with title framed by a rich woodcut frieze, animated by some biblical figures and depicting a phoenix on flames facing the sun. Second title page (adorned with a beautiful full-page engraving, the same as the first, but in excellent condition) at the beginning of the New Testament.
Edited by Giovanni Giolito De Ferrari, who integrated the work with new texts, therefore subject to protection, which made it possible to automatically extend the privilege to the whole book.
