Catawiki’s goal is to make special objects universally available. Our weekly auctions feature thousands of unusual, rare, and exceptional objects you won’t find in just any store. Rare portable edition given to Lyon by Guillaume Rouillé.

The first edition of this version of Justinien's Novelles was published in 1531 at the Nuremberg address, with a French edition of 1542 at the Paris address.
This edition also includes Canones Apostolorum, Feudorum libri duo, Constitutiones, Friderichi II, Impp., Extravagantes Henrici VII imp. & Tractatus de Pace Constantiae.

During a very brief existence, Gregor Meltzer dit Haloander (1501-1531) devoted himself to a large, careful and critical edition of the Corpus Iuris civilis, which he gave from 1529 (the Institutes); at his death, the work on the Novelles had not been fully completed and had to be continued by Heinrich Scrimger (1506-1572). Despite its imperfections, this version of the Corpus then imposed itself in the Germanic world for its correctness and the quality of its source research.
