Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, (Alcalá de Henares, 1503- Vienna, 1564), brother of Charles V. Its author is the polygrapher Lodovico Dolce (Venice, circa 1508 - 1568), a very prolific author of historical, literary and esoteric texts. In this work, ample space is given to the Ottoman wars.

CONTENTS
FIRST EDITION of an esteemed biography of the Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand I of Habsburg (Alcalá de Henares 1503 - Vienna 1564), brother of Charles V.
Son of Archduke Philip the Fair of Austria and Joanna the Mad, he was the younger brother of Prince Charles, later Emperor Charles V. He became emperor in 1558, after his brother's abdication. He reorganized the administration of all the territories subject to his sovereignty, establishing a secret council (Geheimrat) and a courtly council (Hofrat), a courtly chancellery (Hofkanzlei), a courtly chamber (Hofkammer) for the control of administration and finances and the Aulic War Council (Hofkriegsrat).

The text is preceded by a sonnet by Bonaventura Gonzaghi da Reggio, by the table of notable things, by a brief biographical summary and by another sonnet by Oratio Toscanella.

Its author is the polygrapher Lodovico Dolce (Venice, circa 1508 - 1568), a very prolific author of historical, literary and esoteric texts. Half parchment binding with marbled plates. Traces of gora on the last pages. Ink stains on the lower outer corners of pp. 228 and 229. Roman numerals in title Pp. (24), 254 (i.e. 258), (2). Old woodworm work, mended, on the inner margin of the first leaves. Errors in the numbering of the last pages, after pag. 249. Cameo publisher's brand engraved on the title page, depicting a phoenix emerging from a vase facing the sun, with the motto "Semper eadem; Vivo morte refecta mea". Woodcut drop caps and fronts. Effigy of Emperor Ferdinand in modern reproduction. Author's notes in the margins.
