Work of one of the most important masters of the twentieth century who participated in 6 Venice Biennials. Some of his paintings, three portraits of benefactors and three other works that have gone missing, appear in the art collections of the Ospedale Maggiore in Milan. Currently, the artist's prices are constantly rising.

Works sought after by collectors for the historical revaluation and presence of the painter in museums and auction houses

“My painting is made up of variable elements and constant elements. Among the variable elements we can include those concerning the landscapes and the aesthetic ideas of the figurative. Among the constant elements are those concerning the construction of the picture. In my opinion, indeed, one cannot speak of the expression of pictorial feelings without taking into consideration above all these architectural elements which subordinate all the figurative values of shape and color to themselves. These principles must be joined by that of spatiality, which is not to be confused with perspectivism; since the value of spatiality never has so-called visual origins. This concept in my painting is a fundamental expression.” (John Borgonova)

Ideal as an investment given the historical revaluation of the artist / Borgonovo 019 Collection, the Artist was presented in 2020 catalogs of the main Italian and foreign auction houses.

A large private collection, partly unpublished works of extraordinary value, an artist who was beaten by Sotheby's and by the main Italian auction houses. A choice aimed at creating a major retrospective and enhancing the artist by bringing him back to the center of the Italian art market. Borgonovo was an important Italian landscape and portrait painter of the 20th century, he took part in six biennials, in 1920 he won the Prince Umberto prize with the work "Sunset December in the Milanese countryside", purchased by the Edison company of Milan. A refined and passionate painter, he did not stop at the honors and recognitions acquired between the 1920s and 1930s in the most important showcases of Italy - but rather than success he preferred the profound reasons of life and art that pushed him away from the Milanese territories. But his "pictorial happiness" remains "extraordinarily free" in its formation and growth, "with a singular extraneousness not only to the 'twentieth century' but also to the trends of his time", far as it was from the anxieties of the avant-gardes, from the doubts agonizing over the fate of painting. “In him we do not feel the weight of the twentieth century nor the weight of a traditional art”.
